Boat dinner party of Fish Fight Spain!

Spain is a country with a great fishing tradition, so Fish Fight campaign has always found many interest of people, journalists, celebrities and influencers that want to participate in our events and the fight we have been carrying on for now 1 year! Woow!

On Thursday 9th May 2013, we organized a Boat dinner party to celebrate our first anniversary in Spain. We wanted to let journalists, celebrities and influencers know that we have now, after one year of work, over 30.000 Spanish people on board and the fact that we still have to fight for our Ministers to hear our demands, and stop wasting good aliments and overexploiting our seas.

After receiving the fish that was captured by a local fisherman in Catalonia, Ramón Tarridas, the prestigious chef Joaquín Felipe made an incredible dinner for 20 guests.

We set up the small celebration at calle Barco (Boat Street) of Madrid, at the offices of Light Project.

Our favorite party element? The marine desserts!

We organized also a tonic stand thanks to ME Tonic brand and made a “marine” cake and gave away chocolate bonbons with the shape of fishes, thanks to La Bombonera de Barco!

Happy Sustainable Fishing!

Changing Roles: teacher in Spain, student in Plymouth / De vuelta a las aulas

Changing Roles: teacher in Spain, student in Plymouth

Up & Coming went to film in Plymouth, The United Kingdom, and in Boadilla del Monte, Madrid, Spain, a new TV report for programme “Learning World” of Euronews. In “Changing Roles: teacher in Spain, student in Plymouth”, we spend time with Ana María Pulido, a Spanish primary school teacher. We follow her from the school in Boadilla del Monte at which she teaches to the University of Marjon, in Plymouth. We watch how she improves her English with a local family and comes every day to a training course for Spanish teachers at the University. They learn how to teach their students in English.

Brussels’ Open Kitchens: Are you a host, cook, performer or guest?

Are you looking for new spaces for story sharing around food and culture in Brussels? Then, Open Kitchen is “the place” to be.

OK4

Home has always been a place for gathering with friends and family. There is nothing new about it. However, Open Kitchen cultural project is changing the way we use the domestic spaces for cultural performances, relationship building and human interaction. Larger and more trusted online networks bring new advantages to homeowners: it is becoming easier to trust people and consume together in a collaborative way. You can now safely bring some open-minded people to your place and provide them new services: sing, learn, cook, share… there are no limits.

okok03ok02

What happens, what do you hear see, hear or eat in those places? Food is homemade and traditional, proudly prepared by passionate non-professional cooks who want to share their special recipes and get better at something that matters to them.

OK3

There are often concerts, performances and exhibitions. More and more creative people are looking for places where they can perform, exchange knowledge and directly interact with potential audiences and people that want to “taste” their creations. Attractions in this new scene have a discovery effect, underground feeling and are great places for networking.

Open Kitchen started as an idea of our colaborator in Up & Coming Manuel Pueyo and has been doing such fun events since 2011. They combine food and performances. They have a very international crowd and they focus on the design of a truly authentic experience that happens every time in different places.

You can subscribe here to their newsletter and be on the loop of the next events to come. And here you can find a platform that lists all the artists that are open to perform at home.

So, what kind of person are you? A host, cook, performer or guest?

De miss España a musa indie

¿Te acuerdas de María Reyes? Exacto!

Up & Coming shooting in Stockholm for Euronews

Last August 2010 Up & Coming went to film to Sweden for Euronews’ programme “Learning World”. The report we filmed appeared in April 2011 and featured the integration situation of schools in the Nordic country. In Sweden, approximately 25 % of the population was born abroad or at least one of their parents was born abroad. In Rinkeby neighborhood, northern Stockholm, this percentage goes up to almost 90%. Rinkeby School is an example of integration. Today, the students -from 70 different nationalities- participate at international academic competitions successfully.

MERRY SEPTEMBER XMAS!

Already planning this xmas? Today, a few months ahead, we want to highlight one of the PR campaigns that we liked from the Dubai Lynx, the International Festival of Creativity of the Middle East, celebrated last month. It is called “September Christmas”, and was created by agency HORIZON DRAFTFCB, for its client TAMANNA to inspire a simple, powerful reaction: “I can turn tears into laughter”.  Tamanna is an NGO which relies on donations to grant wishes of critically ill children in Lebanon. In order to help as many children as possible, Tamanna needed to raise awareness. And ‘September Christmas’ was the action to fulfill the 8-year-old cancer patient Carmen’s wish for an iPad at Christmas.

On September 8, Carmen’s parents took her out for ice-cream in Downtown Beirut. Suddenly, Christmas carols began to play and Beirut Souks transformed into a semi-Winter Wonderland. While Santa Klaus typically flies his reindeer, on this night he was lowered from a helicopter right in front of Carmen. With an iPad in his sack. The event was heartwarming, hopeful and created a powerful and touching story of a brave little girl whose wish came true.

You can see the action in this video:
